Goa’s Kailas Gauns clinches IBC West Zone boxing title

Goa’s own Kailas Gauns delivered a title-winning performance that sent the local fans into delight. Fighting for the IBC West Zone Super Flyweight Title, the homegrown pugilist rose to the occasion, feeding off thunderous chants and unwavering support from spectators who turned the riverside venue into his fortress.

Organised by Susegado Strike in aegis with the Indian Boxing Council (IBC) and in collaboration with Goa Tourism, Fight Night 5.0 was the first professional boxing event of its kind staged at such a picturesque outdoor locale

Headlining the card in the final bout of the evening, Kailas Gauns squared off against Nikhil Raj C K in a high-stakes Super Flyweight West Zone title clash. From the opening bell, Kailas controlled the tempo, mixing sharp combinations with disciplined ring movement. As the rounds progressed, he began to break down his opponent with sustained pressure and clean, unanswered punches. In the third round, after a relentless flurry, the referee stepped in at 1 minute 45 seconds, declaring a technical knockout victory for Kailas

Earlier in the evening, the card featured a series of compelling bouts that kept the Riverfront buzzing. The Light Flyweight opener between Akanksha Singh and Nitu Nandu Sutar went the distance, with both fighters displaying tactical precision and ring awareness, resulting in a closely contested majority decision draw. In the middleweight division, F Lathanliana Junior delivered a composed performance against Yashraj Goud, using crisp straight punches and effective ring control to secure a unanimous decision victory. Another middleweight contest saw Jaspreet Singh dominate proceedings against C Lalhruaitluanga, earning a unanimous decision win with calculated aggression and superior shot selection.

The Super Middleweight bout provided the night’s most explosive finish before the main event, as Sunita Parminder Singh unleashed a commanding display against Sanjana Shashipal. Backing her opponent onto the ropes with powerful combinations, Sunita sealed the fight with a knockout at 1 minute 24 seconds of the fourth round, drawing loud applause from the crowd. In the Super Flyweight division, Vanlalenkawltira maintained his impressive form with a disciplined performance against Shanborlang Marbaniang, claiming a unanimous decision victory through superior ring control and effective punching accuracy.
