Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club continued their fine run in the GFA Third Division League (Salcete Zone) routing Raia Sporting Club 7-1 in their semi-final at SAG Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda on Monday. Sao Jose de Areal led 3-0 at the break. The highlight of the match was a brilliant four-goal blitz by striker Alvito Moura.
Sao Jose de Areal looked the better side of the two teams and dominated the game right from the word go. They surged into the lead in the 12th minute when striker Alvito slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. The second goal came in the 21st minute when Soskar Olveira punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Stephen Simoes made it 3-0 in the 27th minute with
a neat finish.
The second half continued in the same vein with Sao Jose de Areal in total domination as they pushed their opponents on the back foot. It was 4-0 soon after resumption when Alvito tapped it into an empty net. In the 65th minute, Alvito completed his hat-trick when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
Three minutes later, Melwyn Gaonkar scored the consolation goal for Raia Sporting Club. Sao Jose de Areal though were not done and Alvito scored his fourth goal and the team's sixth in the 70th minute. David Rebello drove the last nail into the rival coffin late in the second half.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club will now meet Carmel Sports Club in the final on November 15.
