The camp was formally inaugurated on April 7 by Fr Domnic Savio Fernandes, Head Master of the School on the occasion of his birthday. Hundred boys and girls have enrolled for the camp.
The trainees will undergo coaching in various nuances of football under the watchful eyes of senior coaches, Peter Valles and Mateus Costa along with the junior coaches of Sporting Clube de Goa and the School PE teachers. The objective of this camp is to scout and promote the abundant talent in Goa’s remote areas. To achieve this, Sporting Clube de Goa has adopted Pope John XXIII School, Quepem under its Community Development Programme.
At the inaugural function, which was attended by the School’s PTA Members, SCG coaches Peter Valles, Mateus D’Costa, Head of Youth Development Shekhar Kerkar along with CEO Victor Fernandes, Head Master Fr Domnic Savio Fernandes thanked Sporting Club de Goa and especially its President Peter Vaz for all the help extended to the school.
Victor Fernandes commended Fr Domnic Savio Fernandes for his outstanding work in giving an all-round education with emphasis on sports to the youth of Quepem and the surrounding areas.
