Sporting Clube de Goa juniors continued their fine run in the GFA U-14 league as they breezed past Fr Angel Youth Club 5-1 at the Batim ground on Thursday.
A brace each from Joseph D’Souza (28’ & 67’) and Joquim Pereira (53’ & 75’) and a goal from Nash Camilo (69’) helped the young Flaming Oranje overpower Fr Agnel YC, who scored their only goal early in the seventh minute.
Sporting were the first to start a promising offensive right from the kick-off and the pressure paid off as they won a penalty in the fourth minute. However Joseph D’Souza shot it wide of the post missing the early opportunity. Fr Agnel boys then hit back as they took an early lead in the 7th minute. It took Sporting 28 minutes to find an equaliser when Joseph D’Souza made up for his earlier error with a good right footer to put things on level terms before the break.
In the second half, Sporting came out with intent destroying the Fr Agnel defence. Joquim Pereira started the Fr Agnel rout with a stunning 53rd-minute goal and followed it up with another in the 75th. Joseph came back to punish the opposition in the 67th minute and then made a wonderful assist to Nash Camilo in the 69th minute; the latter connecting it well to leave the goalkeeper clueless. With this win Sporting have collected 9 points from 3 matches.
