Sporting Clube de Goa Juniors continued their fine run in the GFA U-16 league as they registered a 9-0 victory over FC Neura at Batim ground on Thursday. Anthony Fernandes (6’, 72’ & 79’), Rohit Tadad (12’), Richard Cardoz (16’), Alister Anthony (40’, 40’+1’, 77’) Dattraj Gaonkar (48’) got on the scoresheet for Sporting.
Anthony Fernandes opened the scoring for Sporting with a low right-footer early in the sixth minute. Rohit Tadat and Richard Cardzo added the second and third within the next 10 minutes. Towards the end of the first half, Alister Anthony who had scored a hat-trick in the previous match against Goa Velha, carried forward his momentum and displayed some great ball control to score back to back goals in a span of two minutes, pretty much ending the day for the Neura boys. It stayed 5-0 in favour of Sporting at half-time.
Switching ends, Sporting kept hunting for more goalscoring opportunities. Dattraj Gaonkar started the second half rout when he found the back of the net in the 48th minute. Anthony added two more while Alister added another as both celebrated their hat-tricks to help Sporting register a mammoth 9-0 win over FC Neurea. With this win, Sporting tightened their grip on the top spot with 12 points from four matches.
