Sporting Club of Davorlim registered an easy 3-0 win over Goa Velha Sports Club to advance into the quarter-finals of All Goa Our Lady of Merces inter-village football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at Church grounds, Chinchinim on Tuesday. They led 2-0 at half time.
Davorlim were off to a flying start and in the very 7th minute striker Stanley Furtado opened the scoring when he beat his markers and placed the ball to the far corner of the net. The early goal enlivend Davorlim players as they mounted pressure on the rival goal and Goa Velha citadel fell again in the 15th minute when Romeo Colaco did a neat job by beating the onrushing Goa Velha goalkeeper with a fine strike.
After the break,Davorlim forwards did not lose appetite for more goals and Perryson Rebello drove the final nail into the rival coffin. Trailing 0-3, a lot was expected from Goa Velha who were disjointed and hardly made any attempts to wipe the deficit.
Davorlim had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards muffed gilt-edged chances.
