Sporting Clube de Goa will take on FC Bengaluru United in an important I-League 2 fixture at the Padukone-Dravid CSE Arena on May 8.
Sporting Clube head into the match after winning their third consecutive Goa Professional League title and registering a 2-1 victory over GMSC in their previous outing.
FC Bengaluru United are currently placed second in the standings with 11 points from six matches, while Sporting Goa are fourth with 10 points. A win for the Goan side would move them above Bengaluru United and strengthen their chances of finishing in the top two.
Sporting Clube have conceded only five goals in six matches so far. Alister Anthony has led the attack, while Joyson Gauncar and Ngangbam Naocha Singh have also contributed goals in recent matches.
Assistant coach Savio Vaz said the team remained focused on securing a top-two finish.
“With the last two matches remaining, we will give our absolute best to ensure we finish in the top two spots,” Vaz said. “The momentum from our GPL success is high, and the players are committed to maintaining that professional standard to ensure Sporting returns to the higher divisions of Indian football,” he added.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm IST.
