Meanwhile, Yash Fadte from Goa was felicitated during the tournament by CCI Club and the sponsors, JSW, IVY Sports and Go Sports, as the most promising junior in India for his continuous contribution in the Indian junior squash team, at national and international level, and at the Under-19 world junior championship that was held this year in New Zealand.
Yash travels to Mumbai to play at the CCI Club every weekend where he has been given membership. Yash is currently preparing for the US junior champ
ionship which will be held at Yale University from December 16 to 20. He will next head to England for the British Junior squash championship which is to be held at Birmingham from January 3 to 7, 2018. To prepare for these prestigious events, Yash will be attending a camp which has been organised from the November 2 to December 8.
Yash is delighted with the honour bestowed on him by the organisers. "It obviously feels great. I was not even aware that the felicitation was on the cards. To be declared the most promising player in Indian squash, in front of the prestigious gathering in Mumbai, is tremendous encouragement. The hard work is paying off. This moment is also a great boost for kids wanting to take up squash," Yash told The Goan.
His father Dilip is happy for Yash. "It's a great moment for him. I hope at least now the Goa government looks seriously at squash and comes out in support of Yash and others. We have been spending our money so far, to take Yash to the level where
he is now.
"It is very sad to say that the State government of the past and the current one, have not taken note of Yash's achievements so far despite having squash as one of the disciplines for next year's National Games in Goa," said
