MARGAO: St Anthony SC Assolda edged past Shiroda Youth Club 1-0 to advance to the next round of the 47th St Joseph Festival Inter-Village Football Tournament 2026, organised by Dramapur Sports Club, at the Dramapur Football Ground on Monday.
Imson Fernandes scored the decisive goal in the 19th minute, putting Assolda ahead with a well-taken finish.
Shiroda Youth Club pushed for an equaliser and created a few opportunities, but Assolda's defence held firm to preserve the slender lead until the final whistle.
Despite being on the losing side, Shiroda's Shawn Colaco put in an impressive display and was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Dramapur Sports Club secretary Joaquim Pereira.
