St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, secured third place in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Tennis Championship for the third consecutive year, achieving the feat despite limited access to training facilities.
The college does not have a dedicated tennis court, and its students have limited access to practice facilities. Most begin learning the sport only after joining the institution. For the past five years, they have trained on the tarred parking lot at Chicalim Church, reflecting their dedication and determination to excel.
The consistent support of the college administrator, vice-principal and the late Fr Bolmax Pereira has played an important role in the team’s success. The guidance and coaching provided by the college director of physical education and sports, along with the physical education instructor, have also contributed to the achievement.
