St Sebastian Union Club Benaulim prevailed over UB 40 Colva 4-3 via tie-breaker to emerge champions of the 12th Serino Cardozo Memorial Trophy organized by Best Friends of Illeant, Benaulim at Illeant Ground, Benaulim on Saturday.
Seldon drew the first blood in the 14th minute for Benaulim. However their joy was short lived as ten minutes later Nelson cancelled the lead for Colva. The score was locked at 1-1 in normal time.
In the resultant tie-breaker St.Sebastian netted through Seldon, Joel and Roger and for U B 40 Maxon and Nelson scored.
St Sebastian Union Club bagged Rs 20,000 and the trophy while U B Boys 40 Colva were richer by Rs 15,000.
Nicholas of St.Sebastian was declared the best striker of the tournament, while his team-mate, L Silva was adjudged best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Ex-Minister for Tourism Micky Pacheco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of David Fernandes, panch of Benaulim, Raul Cardozo, Trevor Fernandes and other dignitaries.
