Goan shuttler Tanisha Crasto and her partner Ishaan Bhatnagar on Sunday clinched the mixed doubles title at the Syed Modi International 2022 badminton championships in Lucknow.
At the Babu Banarasi Indoor Stadium, the pair secured a commanding 21-16, 21-12 win over compatriots T Hema Nagendra and Srivedya in the summit clash that lasted for 29 minutes.
India’s top shuttler and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu won the women's singles title, ending a 29-month title drought for the top seed. The World number 7 defeated Malvika Bansod 21-13, 21-16 in the summit clash. The final lasted just 35 minutes.
The scoreline reflected Sindhu’s overall control, though young Bansod made her formidable opponent move around a lot in the later stages of the final at the UP Badminton Academy courts. It was former world champion Sindhu's second Syed Modi title after having annexed the BWF World Tour Super 300 event in 2017.
Earlier, the men's singles final of the tournament was declared a 'No Match', after one of the finalists tested positive for COVID-19. The all-French clash was scheduled between Arnaud Merkle and Lucas Claerbout.
