Sesa Football Academy will kick off their I-League 3 campaign against Maharashtra Oranje at the Dempo Sports Club Academy Ground in Ella, Old Goa, on Tuesday at 9 am.
Ahead of the match, Sesa Football Academy head coach Charles Dias emphasized the significance of the I-League 3 for his team. "Each member of the squad understands the importance of this tournament. There are no second chances, and our game against Maharashtra Oranje is crucial," Dias said. He acknowledged the challenge posed by Maharashtra Oranje, describing them as an organized team. "It won’t be an easy match, but a victory is essential for us to stay in the tournament," he added.
Dias stressed the need for focus and determination, stating, "We must approach the game with full concentration and effort. Beating Maharashtra Oranje is our first hurdle, and we are committed to giving our best performance." He also noted that the team is eager to start the tournament on a high, aiming for a strong opening match. "The atmosphere in the team is excellent, and the players are motivated to improve on their previous performances. Many players from last year’s squad have experience from I-League 2 and 3, which should benefit us," Dias concluded.
Maharashtra Oranje head coach Tapash Ghosh shared his thoughts, saying, "This tournament is very important to us, and our focus is entirely on the first match. We were not satisfied with our performance last season, and we see I-League 3 as our last opportunity to qualify for I-League 2."
Ghosh acknowledged the strength of Sesa Football Academy but expressed confidence in his own team's abilities. "We are aware of the challenge they present, but we are determined to secure a win. The first match is always tough, and although we lack a grass training pitch, we are ready to give our best effort," he concluded.
