Wave Boxing Club’s outstanding performer Abu Talib secured his spot in the finals of Elite Men’s category at the Goa State Boxing Championship being held at Peddem sports complex, Mapusa. Talib defeated Akash Fulkar in a tough, competitive bout which went on for three rounds. Talib managed to salvage a win, scoring enough points to set up a final clash with national boxer Santosh Harijan.
Harijan made his way into the finals of the Elite Men’s group by defeating Rahul from MBC and will next go glove to glove against Talib in a highly anticipated final, which is scheduled on the final day of the four-day tournament.
In other notable performances from other categories, Aditi Fadte from Rangers Boxing Club finished top in the Sub-Junior girls category after defeating Rutija Joshi of Sai Thunder Boxing Club. In Sub Junior boys category, Suraj Ram from Margao Boxing Club defeated Ketan Walke from Thunder Boxing Club to claim the top honour.
In junior men’s categories, Arun Naik beat Aditya Soni in 34kg-36kg, Harsh Sharma beat Maybun D’Costa in 36kg-38kg, Arjun Lor defeated Tanish Purohit in 38kg-40kg, while in 48kg-50kg category, Rohun Pundit got the better of Prashant Dodrani.
