Tanushri Shadani is in line for a quadruple crown while Trisha Joshi is poised for a triple crown at the Late Manohar Dhond Memorial State Sub-Junior Badminton Ranking Tournamen organised in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and SAG at Multipurpose Stadium, Peddem.
Yash Desai, Harsh Mane, Rudra Dukle and Aryaman Saraf are vying for double crowns each. The thirteenth edition of the Late Manohar Dhond Memorial championship evoked a good response from players competing to make it into the Goa squad for the sub-junior nationals to be held later this month in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh (U-13) and Bangalore (U-15).
In the under-13 boys singles semi finals, Yash Desai was in cruise control against Rudra Phadte and won 21-15, 21-11 while Harsh Mane, who has been in fine form this season, registered a commanding 21-7, 21-6 win over Sarvadnya Khandeparkar in the other semis.
In the under-13 girls singles, Tanushri Shadani set up a title clash with Trisha Joshi. Tanushri defeated Synnovia D’ Souza 21-10, 21-3 in the first semis while Trisha accounted for Siya Kolwalkar, winning 21-14, 21-12.
The under-15 girls final will witness a repeat contest between Tanushri Shadani and Trisha Joshi. In the first semis, Tanushri defeated Jiya Kamat 21-11, 21-6 while Trisha registered a 21-8, 21-7 win over Rhea Kanji in the other semis.
In the under-15 boys singles, Rudra Dukle will clash with Aryaman Saraf in the final. In the semis, top seed Rudra defeated Yash Halarnkar 21-14, 21-10 while second seed Aryaman was made to work hard before registering a tense 19-21, 21-15, 22-20 win over Aashutosh Dhavalikar.
