He was one of the nominees last year as well, but could notcross the final hurdle to lay his hands on the prized trophy. However, thistime he did it in fine fashion with his music composition for the track‘Vailankanni Saibinnim’ in the album ‘Sobit Sopnam’. Filipe Baretto was alsonominated in the same category for another track ‘Sobit Sopnam’ from the sameKonkani music album. This in itself speaks volumes of his musical talent.
Speaking to The Goan Filipe said ‘It’s a great feeling towin the TAG Best Music composer award, and more because it is for a Konkanialbum. It is a truly satisfying experience to work with music for a Konkanialbum, because it requires a lot of creativity and thinking. It’s a differentball game altogether.’
Filipe Baretto who is a native of Ambaji in Fatorda, was aregular keyboardist of the beat group ‘Heavens 7’ till the time he formed hisown beat group the ‘NH-17’. But Filipe is no novice to Konkani music. He hasbeen playing the keyboards for Konkani music albums for a long time with othersenior Konkani stage music directors. In addition to this, he has scored themusic for nearly 20-25 Konkani music albums including those of Lawry Travaso, CD’Silva, Webly Gomes and others.
Filipe has recently moved a step further on the music frontwith setting up his own recording studio called ‘Music Solutions’. He hasalready recorded an album in his new studio and is presently working on anotherone.
When asked to comment on his award winning track‘Vailanaknni Saibinnim’, Filipe said “Believe it or not, as a matter of fact Ihad just returned back from a pilgrim visit to the shrine of Our Lady ofVailankanni in Nagapattinam. On arriving back in Goa, the first thing I did wasto sit and start writing the music score for the same song. All I can say is Iwas inspired to do the music score while I was on the pilgrimage. And the endresult is the music Award. I am so very happy.”
