Rosa, a widow (Dolla Mascarenhas) educatesher two children Melwyn (Oldrin) and Merlin (Roma) up to college level andexpects that once they are gainfully employed they will support her financiallyand all her troubles and hardships would end. In doing so, Rosa has a toughtime meeting the family needs. The only financial support she receives is fromher brother Robert (Joe).
Apart from education, Rosa imparts good moral values in her children and wantsthem to do well in life while following the right path. When she learns her sonMelwyn has befriended a rich man’s son Cain (Philipe Almeida) she is a littlecautious and is afraid her son may fall into bad habits. She warns him againstthe bad vices of smoking, gambling and drinking.
On passing out Melwyn looks out for gainful employment, but fails to do so. Hisfriend Cain is always around to assist him and treats him well with his moneypower. At times Melwyn feels guilty because he unable to match up to his financialabilities.
One day an amount of Rs. 5000/- meant to repay a loan taken by Rosa goesmissing from the cupboard. There is a big hue and cry, and Melwyn admits to takingit and gambling it away. Fortune favours him by way of his winning a superlotto worth five crore rupees. The family becomes rich overnight. Values arelost when money comes in. The reaction of the simple widow Rosa upon knowingshe has become rich is simply superb and Dolla brings forth a realisticreaction.
The family moves into a posh bungalow, their life style changes instantly. Theynow speak only in terms of money and deal in lakhs only. Melwyn’s gamblinghabits do not die though. They only grow
until his ambition reaches the sky. Merlin ditches her boyfriend Joel (PascoalRodrigues) only to fall for Melwyn’s rich friend Cain. What happens next andthe fate of this family who forgets the values and morals once they become richmust be watched and not told.
The tiatr has a good number of songs, comprising solos, duets, two trios sungby Lawry, Osvy Viegas, Seby de Divar, Roma, Janet, Cajetan de Curtorim, Tony deRibandar, Anthony Caidao, with excellent
accompaniment by the musicians. The comedy by the three top comedians Com.Agostinho, Selvy and Janet is lively and exciting without a single dull moment.There is something different in every comic interlude from the beginning tillthe end. All three combine well to bring peals of laughter from the beginningtill the end. The production is one that contains a good moral message for themasses.
