Tilamola United Sports Club rallied from behind to defeat Guirdolim Club 3-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA's Third Division league at Tilamola Ground on Tuesday. The highlight of the match was a brilliant brace by Alvino Carvalho.
Tilamola United held the upper hand in the opening session but it was Guirdolim who rocked the rival citadel early as they scored in the eighth minute when Stanley Colaco punted the ball home. Stunned by the reversal, Tilamola United went into an attacking mode and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. In the 28th minute, striker Alvino Colaco neutralized the lead with a stiff grounder.
The equalizer boosted Tilamola United but they could not add another goal before the break despite having many scoring chances. Post resumption, Tilamola United continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and Pele Menezes added his name on the scorers' list in the 69th minute to make it 2-1. Alvino Carvalho then made it 3-1 in the 86th minute.
Meanwhile at SAG ground, Assolna, a splendid hat-trick by Menezes helped Santa Cruz Society of Poitamado thrash Dramapur Sports Club 6-1. Santa Cruz Society were trailing 0-1 at the breather.
Dramapur surged ahead in the 18th minute when Princeston Saores slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. Santa Cruz Society troubled the rival defence but the equalizer eluded them in the first session. However after crossing over, Santa Cruz Society went on a scoring spree.
Alliston Mendes was in his elements as he bulldozed the rival defence and scored in the 47th minute to level the scores. A minute later, Alliston added another to open the floodgates. Neville Fernandes inflated the tally in the 65th minute while Roshwin Monteiro put the issue beyond doubt in the 75th minute. Alliston completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute and Roshwin made it a tennis scoreline in the 86th minute.
