Town Boys Sanguem edged past Rosary Boys Davorlim 3–2 to clinch the 19th Rebello Pandal Football Trophy, organised by Rebello Pandal Maina at St. Rita Church Ground, Maina, on Sunday.
Town Boys Sanguem got off to a bright start, taking the lead in the 9th minute through Saiesh. However, their advantage was short-lived as Renzil equalised for Rosary Boys Davorlim just two minutes later in the 11th minute.
The second half saw Town Boys step up the intensity. Hanslum Furtado restored the lead in the 49th minute, and Rahul quickly extended it to 3–1 a minute later. Rosary Boys responded through Prince, who reduced the deficit to 3–2, but could not find the equaliser despite late pressure.
The prizes were distributed by Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim constituency, who attended as chief guest. He was joined by noted football figure Armando Colaco, Arjuna awardee Jennifer Fernandes, Fr. Dominic Vaz, Parish Priest of St. Rita Church Maina, ZP member Astra D’Silva, and other dignitaries.
