Two-day National surf board training event held in Colva

The Karuna Football Foundation, in collaboration with GVM’s GGPR College of Commerce, Ponda and The Light by the Sea from Australia, organized a two-day National Surf Board Training event, at the Colva Beach, recently.

This initiative was aimed to promote the sport of surfboarding in the coastal regions of India in general and Goa in particular.

The training event featured a distinguished team of facilitators, including Richard (Richo) and Jacob Hadges from Sydney in Australia, and Gerdien Robbertsen from the Netherlands. The participants, hailing from various educational institutions across Goa, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Bangalore, were mainly Physical Education personnel passionate about introducing surfboarding as a recreational and competitive activity.

The training was limited to 15 participants to ensure an intimate learning environment and personalized guidance. This select group of individuals received hands-on training from a highly qualified and experienced team of professionals who also brought the essential equipment for the training.

Prof. Dr. Teotone Vaz, the Principal of GVM’s GGPR College in Ponda, along with staff members Betty D’Silva and Prashant Fadte from the Physical Education Department, actively participated in this training program. Milton Fernandes took on the role of coordination under the able guidance of Kennedy D’Silva, the Director of the Karuna Football Foundation.
