U-13 Nat Chess: Om, Gunjal win

Om Barde and Gunjal Chopdekar were the star performers for Goa as they won their second round matches at the 31st U-13 National Open Boys and Girls Chess Championship 2017, in Jalhandar, Punjab, on Thursday.

Om easily outwitted Bihar’s Piyush Kumar in the boys’ category, while Gunjal edged out Delhi’s Kamya Negi in the girls’ category. Both the Goan players are on two points after Round 2.
Earlier, Goa’s Tanvi Hadkonkar drew with Delhi’s Jessica Fr to secure 1.5 points while Ayush Shirodkar and Ishan Pagi suffered setbacks against West Bengal’s Saurab Biswas and Chattisham’s Saksham Raotella, respectively. Ayush is on one point while Ishan Pagi has managed to secure half point.
The tournament is organised by Jalandhar Chess Association in association with All India Chess Association.
