U-17 Subroto: OL of Rosary, Mount Mary’s and OL of Succour advance

MARGAOrrIn the first match, OL of Rosary prevailed over Saviour of the World High School, Loutolim 5-4 via tie-breaker. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at full time. OL of Rosary sounded early warning when striker Maxwell Furtado picked up the ball from hardworking Sweton Rebello and the former failed to beat the rival goalkeeper in a one-to-one situation. rOL of Rosary had a golden chance to surge ahead but rival defender Sanford Cardozo thwarted striker Joswel Cardozo with a neat tackle in the 6th minute. rThe Fatorda school were unlucky when Sweton Rebello unleashed a volley which was taken care of by goalkeeper Navesh Naik. Two minutes later, OL of Rosary’s breakthrough came when Maxwell Furtado’s power-packed shot crashed into the net. Stung by that setback, Saviour of the World School nearly found the equalizer when Talent Fernandes’ scorcher was brillantly saved by Rosary goalkeeeper Syden Furtado. rPost resumption, Saviour of the World School were a dominant lot with their forwards troubling the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Cashel Fernandes cancelled the lead with a stiff grounder off a well measured pass from Sachin Rathod. In the penalty shoot-out, Rosary proved supreme.rIn the second match, Mount Mary’s HSS, Chinchinim edged past St Jude HS, Betalbatim 2-1. Myron Coelho and Shaiyam Basnet were the goal-getters for the winners while Sheldon Pinto reduced the margin for the losers. In the third match of the day, Our Lady of Succour HS, Nagoa beat Rosary High School, Navelim 4-2 via tie-breaker. There was no score after full time. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Aston Fernandes, James D’Sa, Velancio Rodrigues and Sweton Fernandes were on target for Our Lady of Succour High School, while Sukriti Mallik and Rohit Mane converted for Rosary High School, Navelim.
