Construction work on the prestigious Ravindra Bhavan has been halted for altogether a different reason.
Sources informed that the construction work undertaken by a Delhi-based construction company has come to a grinding halt for the past few days due to severe obstructions caused by shifting work of 400 mm dia water pipeline between NH17 road and under construction Ravindra Bhavan complex.
Incidentally, works have already been allotted to shift the 400 mm dia CI rising main from Nagarcem to KTC bus stand and 300 mm dia DI conveying main and 150 mm CI conveying main near the proposed Ravindra Bhavan has been entrusted at the cost of Rs 69.70 lakh.
Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, having confirmed the developments after some local apprised of the slowdown of work, has now sought the visit of GSIDC Chairman and Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pawaskar.
"Upon my request, Pawaskar, besides the Art and Culture officers will visit Canacona to inspect the progress of construction of Ravindra Bhavan in the first week of January," Fernandes told The Goan.
It may be recalled that the foundation stone for the prestigious Rs 55 crore worth Ravidra Bhavan project for Canacona was laid 5 years ago during the birthday celebrations of then sports minister Ramesh Tawadkar on July 27, 2012.
