United Boys of Ambaulim emerged as Salcete Zone champions in the Goa Football Association Second Division League after trouncing Guirdolim Club 9-1 in the final league game, at Nagoa ground.
United Boys finished top of the table with 27 points from nine games. They remained unbeaten throughout the Salcete zone campaign, scoring 40 goals and conceding just five. Crimson Fernandes put United Boys ahead in the 11th minute and Dailon Carvalho doubled the account in the 29th minute.
Ambailim upped the ante and scored twice in quick succession through Rayson Carvalho and Alex Fernandes to make it 4-0 before the break. In the second half, Terron scored twice in the 48th and 50th minutes before Royal Oliveria added another. United Boys’ Alex completed his treble late in the game, scoring twice in the final quarter of the game. Perryson Fernandes pulled a goal back for the losing team in the 86th minute.
Goa's Aahil Sheikh wins swimming bronze
PANAJI: Goan swimmer Aahil Sheikh won two bronze medals at the XXV National Deaf Senior Sports Championship organised by All India Sports Council of the Deaf, hosted at Madhya Pradesh Sports of the Deaf in Indore, Madhya Pradesh recently.
The 13-year-old from Bicholim won the medals in senior men's freestyle 400m and 200m categories. Aahil trains under coach Sujith at the swimming pool in Campal, Panaji.
