MARGAO: United Boys of Mobor booked their place in the semifinals of the Victor Cardozo Memorial Football Tournament after defeating ITS in a dramatic penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the third quarterfinal at Margao.
United Boys made a bright start and went ahead in the eighth minute when Jovi found the back of the net, giving his side a deserved lead heading into the halftime break.
ITS mounted a spirited comeback after the restart, with Mevon scoring twice in the 20th and 26th minutes to turn the match on its head and put his team in front. However, United Boys refused to surrender and snatched a dramatic equaliser in stoppage time through Dylan, whose spectacular long-range strike sent the contest to penalties.
The shootout proved equally gripping, stretching into sudden death before United Boys of Mobor held their nerve to seal victory and advance to the last four.
