A well deserved century by Shivam Chowdhary helped Uttar Pradesh reach a strong position as they scored 358 for 4 on the opening day of the four-day Under 19 Cooch Behar Cricket tournament against hosts Goa at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium here on Saturday.
Opener Shivam Chowdhary and Rinku Singh scored brilliant centuries for the visiting team after Uttar Pradesh won the toss and chose to bat. Shivam Chowdhary and Lakhan Rawat gave Uttar Pradesh a good start with a stand of 85 runs.
After departure of Lakhan Rawat, Shivam Chowdhary (104 runs, 193 balls, 11x4) and Rinku Singh (158 runs, 185 b, 23x4, 1x6) added 162 runs for the second wicket. For Goa, only skipper Suyash
Prabhudesai bowled well on a flat MCC wicket, taking three wickets while Deepraj Gaonkar grabbed one.
At the draw of stumps, Sandeep Kumar and Kartikeyn Khushwah were at the crease on 28 and 1
respectively.
