MARGAO: United Sports Club Seraulim edged Fr Agnelo Sports and Cultural Club Paroda 3-2 via a penalty shootout to book their place in the quarterfinals of the St Sebastian Union Club Benaulim football tournament at St John the Baptist Panchayat Ground, Dando, Benaulim, on Tuesday.
USC Seraulim came close to breaking the deadlock when Dickson Rogtao unleashed a powerful shot from inside the box, but his effort missed the target. At the other end, Fr Agnelo Paroda's Godwin Fernandes found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, who made a crucial save to keep Seraulim in the contest.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Seraulim converted through Ashley Fernandes, Dickson Rogtao and Eloy Fernandes. For Paroda, Pratik Gaukar and Godwin Fernandes found the net, but their side fell short as Seraulim prevailed 3-2.
