ABC Sports Club Arambol beat St Savio Sports Club Calangute 5-4 via tiebreaker to move into the semifinals of the 23rd Vagator Soccer 2023 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, on Friday.
The score was level 1-1 at full time. Arambol scored the opening goal in the 9th minute when a long ranger from Reneil D'mello from the left flank to Cyprian Rodrigues was headed into the net. St Savio SC Calangute scored the equaliser in the 20th minute through Pedro Gonsalves. In the 32nd minute, Dalwin Coelho of Arambol whipped in a cross from the left flank to his teammate Arun Naik who failed to score on the volley.
In the second half, an 18-yard shot in the 38th minute from Saish Palyekar was put away by the Arambol custodian Jordan Fernandes. Manuel Rodrigues of Arambol struck a beauty in the 61st minute but goalkeeper Cydon D'souza made a superb save to deny him.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Manuel, Dalwin, Jordan, Reniel and Arun scored for Arambol while only Pedro, Jovito, Richard and Tannay converted for St Savio Calangute.
The man of the match was awarded to Vivek Kanulkar of ABC Sports Club Arambol Pomburpa by Sudesh Parsekar.
