7-a-side Nachinola tourney underway today

Alvares Boys will take on Namrat 7 in a 7-a-side football tournament on Saturday at Nachinola Ground. Pasha Boys, Black Tigers, Pomburpa 7, I F Rafalaz, Pajeswar Boys, 3 Kings Nerul, NBC Aldona, Queen Valankani Calangute, Praveen Warriors, Barcelona Boys, Amigos de Carlos, Veigas Boys, Siolim Boys and Bom Jesus Nachinola will vie for the trophy. The champions will be awarded Rs 15,000 and the runners-up will walk away with Rs 10,000. Also, prizes will be handed out for Best Goalkeeper, Best Disciplined Team and Most Promising Player according to the organisers.


Loyola HS wins U14 Subroto Cup

MARGAO: Loyola High School of Margao defeated Perpetual Succour Convent HS of Navelim 4-0 to emerge champs of the U-14 Subroto Mukherjee Inter-school Salcete Taluka football tournament played at DSYA Ground, Dramapur. Dominating the entire match – Loyola HS scored through Joseph Da Costa who got a brace and a goal each by Reuban Barbosa and Shelloyd Sequeira. 


DBO Fatorda trounce Goan Warriors FC Tivim 5-0

MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda trounced Goan Warriors FC Tivim 5-0 in the 24th All Goa 8-A-Side Football Tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at Chinchinim Church Ground. The goalscorers for the winners, DBO Fatorda, were Clive Miranda (brace), Clencio Pinto, Richie Vaz and Hanslum Furtado. Fatorda played a well-orchestrated game with timely passes and good positional play. 


Maina SC Curtorim secure spot in finals

MARGAO: Maina SC Curtorim defeated Navelim Villagers Union 6-5 via tiebreaker to secure their place in the finals of the 32nd Super Soccer tournament organised by United Boys of Dando Colva in memory of late Joao Francis Fernandes at Dando Ground Benaulim on Friday. The first half remained goalless as both teams put on a strong defence. In the second half, they intensified their efforts to score but were unable to find the net, leading the game into tiebreakers. In the end, Maina displayed superior shooting skills, securing a thrilling victory over Navelim. The match was a nail-biting display of skill and determination, with Maina SC Curtorim ultimately claiming the well-deserved triumph in an exhilarating contest. Danstan Fernandes of Navelim was presented man of the match by Clifford Miranda, ex-Indian football captain.
