A 10-man Varca Sports Club got the better of Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports Club 9-8 via the sudden death to move into the semifinals of the Varca Panchayat Cup 2023 organised by Varca Sports Club on Sunday.
At half time both the teams were locked goalless draw.
Both the teams started attacking with short passes, right from the start of the match but failed to score. Varca Sports Club almost took the lead in the 15th minute of the first half through Aaron Rodrigues but his shot was well saved by Aston Braganza.
In the second half, Imam Gulad shot wide from close. Varca Sports Club’s Clayton Luis was booked for second yellow card and was given red card.
In the tie breaker, Varca Sports Club scored through Joylan Cardozo, Salim Shaikh, Muhmad Shaikh, Dylan Lima, Nash Dias, Joel Fernandes, Francisco Fernandes, Patraz Kullu and Joylan Cardozo. Rossman Cruz Nagoa converted through Andrus John, Frazer Rodrigues, Cyrus Noronha, Hilton Fernandes, Imam Gulad, Shervin Vaz and Aston Braganza.
Joel Fernandes of Varca Sports Club was adjudged the man of the match.
In another match on Saturday, Arlem Youth Association beat Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda via the tie breaker 6-5 to book their place into the quarterfinals.
The second quarters will be played between Carmona Sports Club vs San Jose de Areal on January 23.
