Varca Veterans emerged triumphant in the exhilarating final of the CLCAC Committee Tournament held at Vaddie ground. The closely contested match, played under the patronage of Captain Venzy Viegas, MLA of the Benaulim constituency, saw Varca defeat Seraulim Veterans by a narrow 1-0 margin.
Both teams displayed a fast-paced and dynamic approach from the kick-off, eager to get on the scoreboard early. Varca's Romeo and Tennyson showcased excellent teamwork, but their efforts failed to translate into goals in the first half, leaving the scoreline locked at 0-0.
After the break, Seraulim came out with renewed intensity. Steven and Jess Cardozo posed a constant threat to Varca's goalkeeper, Romeo Pereira, testing his reflexes repeatedly. As the game neared its conclusion, a tense atmosphere settled over the ground, with the possibility of a tie-breaker.
However, just when a penalty shoot-out seemed inevitable, Narcisco stepped up for Varca. He capitalised on a crucial corner-kick taken by Tennyson, converting it into a decisive goal.
Following the match, Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas, the chief guest, along with other dignitaries presented the winners with the rolling trophy.
