Vasco Sports Club held Churchill Brothers Sports Club 1-1 in the Goa Pro League (Round 5) match, at the Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday. At half time the score was 1-0 in favor of Vasco SC with Churchill Bros trying hard to open their score.
In the very first minute, Churchill Bros missed a brilliant opportunity to open their score when Pankaj Sona failed to collect a cross made by Nicholas Fernandes. Pankaj picked a yellow card for a reckless tackle on for a reckless tackle on Vasco SC’s Sudesh Muttath in the 25th minute.
The Red Machines' Seriton Fernandes took a shot on goal four minutes later but was well saved by the rival goalkeeper, Jerson Pereira. The long awaited deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute when Vasco SC’s Nasar made a cross to Chinedu Ejidgu who netted in the lone goal for his side.
After the lemon break Vasco SC made three substitutions and Churchill Bros made two switches. In the 48th minute, Vasco SC’s Nasar was yellow carded by referee Parmanand Mandrekar for a reckless tackle on the rival custodian. In the 63rd minute, the Red Machines Pankaj missed a golden opportunity of scoring the equalizer when the rival keeper was out of place but he misjudged the angle and tapped the ball outside the post.
Pankaj netted in the equalizer goal for his side in the 64th minute. Nicholas made a cross to Pankaj who headed in the ball which was well blocked by the rival keeper, Jerson in the 86th minute. The next Goa Pro League match will be played on October 05 where Guardian Angel SC will lock horns with SCC Cavelossim, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, at 4 p.m.
