A determined Churchill Brothers Sports Club came back from behind to score a 3-2 win over Vasco Sports Club in the GFA Pro League at Government School play grounds, Ambelim on Monday. Churchill Brothers Sports Club were trailing 0-2 at half time.

It was a dominaning show by Vasco Sports Club, especially in the opening sessions and broke the deadlock in the very 6th minute when Sujil beat the rival goalkeeper with snapshot.

The early goal galvanised the Vasco attacks as they launched a barrage of attacks and pushed their oppoents on the back foot. Twelve minutes later,Vasco Sports Club doubled the lead when Hayson Velho picked up the ball from his teammate and beat the rival goalkeeper with a rasping shot.

At the other end, Churchill Brothers were subdued lot and failed to function as unit as they were unbale to penetrate inside the rival penalty box. Vasco Sports Club had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards frittered away from ideal position.

Post resumption, Churchill Bros back came strongly with their forwards and midfielders working in tandeem to put the rival defence under pressure. Repeated forays inside the rival penalty box paid dividends when Chester Paul headed home off a well-measured cross from Micky Vaz in the 56th minute. The reducer enlivened Churchill Brothers to pile pressure on the rival goal and their forwards troubled the rival defence with spordaic raids. Striker Nicholas Fernandes who was woeful in the opening session, spat venom when he punished the Vasco goalkeeper Shilton Fernandes with a neat finish to put his team on equal terms. Churchill Bros were in full cry as their forwards teased and tormented the rival defence and were determined to record their second win as they struck the match-winner in the 68th minute through Micky Vaz. When Ramandeep executed a free-kick, the ball travelled to rival defender whose feeble clearance went to Biju Kumar. Without wasting time he lobbed the ball inside the rival penalty box and the lurking Micky Vaz nicely nodded in, much to the delight of Churchill Bros' camp. With time running out, Vasco Sports Club went all out in search of the equalizer but rival defenders stood tall in protecting the lead.
