Goa captain Jessel Carneiro said the defeat to Punjab in the semifinals was a bitter pill to swallow as the team endured the loss despite giving their all in the last-four clash.
“The scoreline doesn’t reflect the exact nature of the game. I thought we were the better team and deserved to go through to the finals,” Carneiro said.
“For most part of the game, we were the stronger, quicker and better than them,” Carneiro added.
“The goal we conceded in stoppage-time was a cruel blow. We were better in the first half and had several chances but we could not convert them into goals. We tried our best to play our game and to control the midfield but Punjab got that vital gaol at the end... It was not our day”
