Goa Under-19 women narrowly lost to Tamil Nadu by two wickets in the Women’s Under-19 Elite Cricket Tournament at Alur Cricket Stadium 2 in Bengaluru on Saturday, with the winners reaching the target off the final ball.
Batting first, Goa posted 116 for three in their allotted 20 overs, with Usma Khan leading the effort with an unbeaten 50 off 45 balls, including four fours and a six. Joya Meer remained unbeaten on 22 as the pair added 65 runs for an unbroken partnership.
Tamil Nadu's chase got off to a shaky start as they slipped to 20 for three. However, Nandhana Sridharan scored 41 and Madhumitha Anbu made 23 to steady the innings. Samyuktha Saranya contributed 14 and Poojashrini Ulaganathan added 12 as Tamil Nadu edged home in a last-ball finish.
Nikhila Naik led Goa's bowling effort with three wickets for 27 runs, while Pooja Kalel claimed two for 11. Nandini Chauhan, Usma Khan and Vidhi Bhandare took one wicket each.
