Goan swimmer Xavier Michael D’Souza continued his impressive form at Khelo India School Games as he pocketed two more medals -- a silver and a bronze -- to finish with a personal tally of five medals as swimming competition at the event came
to an end on Sunday.
Xavier won a silver in 50m backstroke with a timing of 27.80 behind Karnataka’s Srihari Nataraj (26.89), who was later named as the best swimmer at the Games.
The Goan also won a bronze in 100m freestyle, clocking a time of 54.63. Nataraj again took the gold in the race with a timing of 53.07 ahead of Neel Roy (53.36) of Maharashtra. Xavier finished with one gold, three silver and one bronze in the competition.
In boxing, Prachi Kerkar was the third Goan pugilist to advance to the quarter-finals stage on Sunday.
Prachi advanced in the 75kg class as she beat Hiral Makwana of Maharashtra) after referee stopped the contest in second round.
