Celebrating the spirit of freedom and unity, Headquarters Goa Naval Area (GNA) Indian Navy and Verna Industries Association (VIA) have partnered with the Margao-based Xaxti Riders, in their 75-km and 30-km Fun Freedom Cycling Rides to be held on August 15, commemorating the Platinum Jubilee Year of Indian Independence.
According to a press note, the 75-km ride will be flagged-off by Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, Flag Office Commanding Goa Naval Area, at 6.40 am from Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, in the presence of Admiral Arun Prakash, former Chief of the Naval Staff and a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
Admiral Arun Prakash, 76, will also participate in the 30-km ride which will be flagged-off jointly by the Guests of Honour, former Indian Cricketer Mohinder Amarnath along with the founder of Verna Industries Association, Nitin Kunkolienker, at 7 am from Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. “These rides will strictly adhere to all the Covid-19 protocols,” informed Sameer Nadkarni, president, Xaxti Riders.
A contingent of 60 cyclists from Indian navy will ride along a large number of men, women and children from all parts of Goa, all donning the recently-launched Xaxti Riders’ Special Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Jersey, the press note adds.
