Xhimer Voilem Morjim clinch Fr Edward F Rego memorial title

The 12th edition of the Late Rev. Fr. Edward F. Rego Memorial 3-A-Side Tie-Breaker Football Tournament was successfully held recently, drawing football enthusiasts and teams from across Goa for an evening of exciting competition and community participation.

The event began on a spiritual note with a Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Franky Fernandes OFM (Sinquerim), who offered special prayers for the success of the tournament and for the welfare of the Old Boys Association of St. Joseph’s.

The tournament was officially kicked off by Fr. Mariano Silveira, Parish Priest of St. Alex Church, Calangute, along with Fr. Franky Fernandes OFM.

The tournament witnessed a remarkable increase in participation compared to previous years, with teams from various parts of Goa competing in the fast-paced tie-breaker format.

In the final, Xhimer Voilem Morjim emerged as the champions, while St. Peter’s Boys, Calangute finished as the runners-up.

The closing ceremony and prize distribution took place in the presence of several dignitaries who applauded the teams for their performance and sportsmanship. Joseph Sequeira, Sarpanch of Calangute Village, attended as the Chief Guest, while Daniel Lobo, Sarpanch of Parra Village, was the Guest of Honour.
