Young Boys of Aradi registered a well deserved 3-1 win over St Anthony’s Boys Orda to enter the finals of the Friends Circle Soccer Cup, played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro grounds, Candolim on Friday.
It was Orda who had the first attempt at the rival goal where a header by Sebastian Gonsalves kissed the horizontal bar. At the other end Aradi’s Sudhir Gawas power-packed strike was fisted to safety by Orda keeper Edwin. Finally in the 15th minute Manjunath Gherde tapped the ball into the goal off a cross by Deepak Redkar, 1-0.
Manjunath Gherde doubled the lead for Aradi in the 33rd minute of a cross by Caje Colaco, 2-0. Orda managed to pull a goal in the 40th minute when Sebastian Gonsalves was brought down by Vilroy Rego inside the penalty box. Lyris made no mistake to score from the penalty spot, 2-1.
Ten minutes later Deepak Redkar dribbled past a host of defenders including the keeper and scored to make it 3-1 for Aradi. Finals will be played on June 19.
