Brand Ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ritviz Parab (Elo 2175) from Salcete won the 2nd All Goa Open Rapid Chess tournament.
He scored 8.5 out from 9 rounds while staying undefeated. Defending champion Niraj Saripally (Elo 2010), Salcete had to be content with the second place. Parth Salvi (Elo 1173) from Bardez secured the third place ahead of higher rated players, Madhavan G (Elo 1367) and Shane Braganca (Elo 1731), both from Tiswadi, who finished 4th and 5th respectively.
The tournament was organised by Rotary Club of MHAPSA ELITE for the second consecutive year in cooperation with Bardez Taluka Chess Association and under the auspices of Goa Chess Association at Saibaba Temple Hall, Canca, Mapusa
recently.
There was a participation of 272 players, among which 75 were FIDE rated. Total cash prizes of Rs 42,000 were awarded to the Top 20 winners along with trophies. Besides trophies were awarded to winners in the age and other categories.
