The All India Football Federation's D Coaching Licence Course concluded with the validectory function, at GFA Duler ground, Mapusa, on Monday.
The five-day course was conducted by the Goa Football Association. A total of 24 participants including four women from across Goa, four from Chennai, four from Telegana which included two girls, Bengaluru and Mumbai (1) participated in this course. The course covered both, practical and theoretical aspects of football coaching. It was conducted by Level 3 AFC goalkeeping course and former India goalkeeper Mario Aguair who was assisted by Antonio Preslty Pereira. Anthony Lobo was the cordinator.
The D-License Course is an introductory course for the beginners who can gradually pursue the advanced C, B and A-License courses.
The D-License Course covers the role of a coach, warm up, planning a coaching session, principles of the game, age-specific training, coaching children, nutrition and health care for footballers, injury prevention and management, hygiene and sports safety and emergency first aid, both in theory and practical.
Participant Stanley Da Silva, one among the male candidates on the course said, “It was really a wonderful course and I thoroughly enjoyed every session. The knowledge gained in this course is extremely practical and definitely transferable to the current situations at most clubs.”
Female participants, some of whom had previously completed the E-License program, highlighted their enthusiasm for taking the next step in their coaching careers and contributing to grassroots development.
The president of Goa Football Association Dr Caitano Fernandes who was the chief guest at the function said the course provided an ideal introduction to football coaching. "We are keen to create a pool of coaches. The candidates are now required to keep a logbook for recording the development of their individual action plan and details of planning, preparing and evaluating training sessions. We'll also keep a tab on the action plan of the successful candidates," he explained.
Fernandes concluded by expressing his pride in hosting the course and the ideal Goan climate that contributed to its success.
