Anaya Shukla and Shaurya Dessai stormed into the finals of the U11 Girls Singles category on the opening day of the All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, being held at the Sports Complex, Ponda.
Anaya defeated Sanaz Shaikh 3-0 in a clinical semi-final performance, while Shaurya ousted Tvisha Kotkar with an identical 3-0 scoreline to set up a high-voltage title clash. Earlier in the quarter-finals, Anaya got past Radha Desai 3-0, Sanaz beat Claire George 3-0, Tvisha overcame Tasha Mascarenhas 3-1, and Shaurya advanced after a walkover.
The tournament, organised by Ponda Table Tennis Sports Club in association with the Goa Table Tennis Association, marks the revival of major table tennis action in Ponda after a long gap. The opening day featured girls’ matches across age categories.
In the U-13 Girls section, Aayushi Amonkar, Kavyaa Khalap, Gianna George, Tisha Shaikh, Sachi Dessai, Inara D’Souza, Aarna Lotlikar and Samaira Verlekar marched into the quarter-finals.
