Betalbatim Sporting Club beat Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 6-4 via the tie-breaker to lift the 16th London Trophy inter-village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club, at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
In an entertainng match, DBO Fatorda went ahead through a thunderous shot by Velton D'Souza midway during the first half .Betalbatim SC went all out looking for an equaliser but their strikers failed to score. Betalbatim SC led by a solitary goal at the break.
On resumption of play, Betalbatim SC attacked from the start and managed to restore parity through their ever reliable player Malcolm Fernandes early in the second half. Both the teams tried their level best to score during regulation time but failed to do so. At the end of regulation time, both the teams were tied 1-1.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Betalbatim SC scored through Ashley Fernandes, Senatro Fernandes, Oliver D'Souza, Keith Rodrigues and Gladson Braganza.
DBO Fatorda scored through Roque Borges, Velton D'Souza and Rahul Sharma. Cayven Araujo shot wide.
The Champions Betalbatim SC were awarded Rs. 1,00,000 and a Trophy along with individual medals while the runners-up DBO Fatorda were awarded Rs. 80,000 and a Trophy along with individual medals by the Chief Guest Fr Antonio Francisco Albuquerque (Parish Priest of St Andrew's Church, Goa Velha) in the presence of Fr Mario Carvalho (Asst. Parish Priest of St Andrew's Church, Iyno John De Souza (Sarpanch of St Andre Village Panchayat), Rajnish Lawande (Prop. RPL Fabricators), Angelo Albuquerque (Competition Director, Sporting Clube de Goa), Anthony Francis Vas (Executive Committee Member, Goa Football Association), Elvis Mendes (Representative of Goa Velha Villagers based in the United Kingdom), Monica Miranda (Deputy Sarpanch), Emilia Caiado (Panch), Mizia D'Souza (Panch), Agnelo L. Fernandes (Panch), Agnelo G.
