Candolim Sports Club defeated Guardian Angel SC by a solitary goal to emerge champions of the 29th Mandopa Football Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Mandopa SC at Mandopa ground, Navelim on Saturday.
Valerian Hilario and Myron Mendes missed scoring opportunities for Guardian Angel while Sanket Jotkar missed chances for Candolim. The all-important goal was scored in the second session by Sanket Jotkar.
Candolim SC were richer by Rs 50,000 plus trophy while Guardian Angel had to be content with Rs 40,000 and a trophy.
Avertano Furtado, ex-Minister for Fisheries and Labour was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Savitri Kavlekar, Fr Gabriel Coutinho, Anthony Pango, GFA vice-president, Anthony Fernandes and Andrew Ferraro, GFA executive committee members, other dignitaries and club officials.
