In a one-sided contest at the 76th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, veteran footballer and long-time Sports Secretary, Raju Cardozo, emerged victorious to become the new president of the club for a two-year term.

Cardozo defeated Prince Pereira by a resounding score of 36-9, signalling a clear mandate from the club members.

In a smooth and unopposed election, Dixon Vaz, the Sarpanch of Cavelossim, was re-elected as the chairman of the club, further solidifying his position within the local sports community.

The newly elected Managing Committee members, who were also voted in unanimously, include Vice-Chairman Viriato Mendes, Vice President Dionizio Dias, Secretary Francis Rodrigues, Assistant Secretary Ceasar Aguiar, Treasurer Jitendra Chodankar, Assistant Treasurer Daryl Dias, Sports Secretary Peter Cardozo, Joint Sports Secretaries Agnelo Passanhas and Glenn Gracias, Auditor Oswin Mendes; Immediate Past President: Viano Rodrigues.

Additionally, the following individuals were elected as Executive Committee members: Anthony Cardozo, Sam Mendes, Natty Fernandes, Hipolito Fernandes, Malcom Rodrigues, Minguel Rodrigues, and Kiety Caldeira.

At the meeting, several individuals were felicitated for their outstanding contributions across various fields. Breann Kate Vaz was honoured for her achievements in sports, Bosco Rodrigues for his social work, and Rufina D'Souza (posthumously) for her cultural contributions. Ninochka Mendes was recognised for her work in education, while SCC top rankers Valroy Travasso, Valanka Travasso, and Deoncy Lobo were also felicitated.

Special recognition was given to Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes, Parish Priest, and Fr Savio Coutinho, SFX, who were both awarded a Lifetime Achievement Certificate for their significant contributions to the spiritual and temporal well-being of the community.
