Sporting Club Bengaluru will square off against Churchill Brothers FC in a must-win I-League clash on Wednesday at 4:30 pm at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Both teams are eager for a win to keep their hopes alive for progression in the league.
A victory for Churchill Brothers FC would secure their first win of the season, while Sporting Club Bengaluru is also in need of three points to register their first win. Churchill Brothers FC currently sit in 8th place with one point, while Sporting Club Bengaluru are at the bottom of the table with no points.
Churchill Brothers FC General Manager, Aditya Barros, expressed confidence ahead of the match, acknowledging the challenge posed by Bengaluru’s well-organized team. “We know the match will be difficult, but we are determined to achieve our goal, which is to win and collect the three points. We must give our best effort to achieve a positive outcome,” said Barros.
He added that the team’s preparations had been solid and he had full confidence in the players' ability to deliver a strong performance. “The match will be tough for both teams, but we respect Sporting Club Bengaluru. They are an organized team, and we are going all out to secure our first victory and improve our position in the league,” Barros said.
Barros also emphasized the importance of maintaining focus, especially after good results. “I’ve told the players to stay focused and avoid any complacency, as we cannot afford to relax when facing a team that is struggling in the standings. It’s crucial to remain determined in every match.”
He further added that while having some advantage in terms of points and standings is beneficial, maintaining balance throughout the season is key. "The season is long, and unexpected challenges like injuries or surprising results can affect teams, so we must maintain consistency," Barros explained.
Barros also mentioned that Spanish forward Juan Mera and Aubin would undergo fitness tests ahead of the match.
