A second-half strike by Cliffton Fernandes enabled Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem to overcome the challenge from Calangute Association 1-0 in the GFA President's Relegation League at Duler stadium, Mapusa on Monday.
Both the teams started the game on a cautious note and as a result, there were few attempts at either end. Crossing over, Guardian Angel enjoyed a slight edge over their opponents. Cliffton struck the match winner in the 48th minute.
Football coaching camp underway at Chandor
A football coaching camp for boys and girls (U-14) by Ganv Bhanvancho Ekvott, Chandor got underway on Monday. The camp will be held from 7 am to 8.30 am at Chandor Church Ground till May 8.
Forty trainees are attending the camp under the guidance of coaches Agustin Antao, Prajot Shirodkar and Remedian Noronha. At the inaugural function on Monday, veteran footballer Marino Dias was the chief guest and junior international Aneline was the guest of honour. Vincy Antao, Oswald Da Costa, Babajin Dias, John Fernandes and Minush Gomes are the project managers.
Michon thrash Holy Cross 4-0
Michon Worries Fatorda trounced Holy Cross Deusa Quepem 4-0. Sweton Rebello scored the first goal in the 12th minute and doubled the lead in the 24th minute. Holy Cross went close to scoring as striker Diego's shot hit the goal post. Sherry Fernandes scored Michon's third goal in the 39th minute before Beckham Dias scored the fourth goal two minutes later.
Sarzora SC down Uguem Rising 4-2
Sarzora Sports Club defeated Uguem Rising Club 4-2 in the inaugural match of Holy Cross Cup 2022 organised by Guardian Sports Club at Vodlemol ground on Monday.
Ashton Fernandes scored a hat-trick for the winners as Sarzora led 2-0 at half time. Shailesh Velip and Lawrence Fernandes scored in the second half for Uguem Rising. In the dying minutes, Sarzora increased their lead through Ryan Fernandes.
Take It Easy Boys reach semifinals
Take It Easy Boys defeated Young Boys of Aradi B and moved into the semifinals of the Young Boys of Aradi Candolim Inter-ward football tournament, organised by Young Boys of Aradi Candolim, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim on Monday.
Cajie Colaco opened the scoreline for Young Boys of Aradi B in the 11th minute. Ajay Sutar and Arun Chawan then netted a goal each for Take It Easy Boys in the 15th and 29th minutes, respectively.
