FC Goa continued their fine run of form with a clinical 2“0 victory over NorthEast United FC in Guwahati, moving up to second place in the table with 19 points.

The Gaurs made a strong start and took the lead in the 20th minute through Dejan Dražić. The forward finished off a sharp attacking move, brilliantly set up by Nemil’s clever flicked assist, giving FC Goa an early advantage and control over proceedings.

FC Goa maintained their composure throughout the first half, dictating possession and limiting the hosts to very few clear opportunities. At the heart of their solid display was Sandesh Jhingan, who, along with the back line, delivered an outstanding defensive performance to keep NorthEast United at bay.

As the second half progressed, the hosts looked to find a way back into the game, but FC Goa’s defensive discipline and organisation ensured they remained in control. The Gaurs also looked dangerous on the counter, managing the game effectively in the closing stages.

Mohammed Yasir, who came on as a substitute in the 78th minute, made a decisive impact late on. Deep into stoppage time, in the 93rd minute, he curled in a stunning effort to seal the win and put the result beyond doubt.

The victory sees FC Goa climb to second place in the standings with 19 points, marking their third consecutive win. The Gaurs will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Jamshedpur FC on May 1st, as they look to continue their strong push in the league.
