Micheal Beny Costa, secretary of Goa Seafarers Association, has been elected as the new president of Clube Recreativo E Cultural De Chinchinim. Costa defeated Constancio Fernandes, former sarpanch, in the club's election on Monday.
Costa won 61-57. D Antoniel Lopes won the election for the post of general secretary, defeating Neves Anthony Rebello, former principal of CES Higher Secondary School, Cuncolim, 83-36. Valentino Barretto was the election officer. All the other candidates who had filed nominations for the executive committee members' posts were elected unopposed.
Olivera distributes volleyballs, footballs
PANAJI: Santa Cruz village Sarpanch Jenifer Olivera distributed volleyballs and footballs to all 11 wards of the village to coincide with the laying of the foundation stone for Santa Cruz Panchayat Ghar, near Santa Cruz football ground under the Swamyam Purna Atmanibar Scheme.
At the request of former executive director of Sports Authority of India, Roque Dias, Nivia Sports, Jalandhar, Punjab gifted the volleyballs and footballs as Christmas gifts for the grassroots development in the village.
