In the GFA's First Division league match at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Sunday, Cuncolim Union secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club. Throughout the game, Sao Jose de Areal struggled to maintain possession and were constantly pressured into making errors by the Cuncolim Union players. Despite occasional threats on the counterattack, they failed to keep their opponents at bay. Cuncolim Union took the lead in the 12th minute when Arun Naik found the back of the net. Buoyed by this early goal, they intensified their attacks and extended their lead in the 21st minute through Dadaaper Patil's strike.
However, Cuncolim Union later eased off the pace, allowing Sao Jose de Areal to make inroads into their penalty box. Although Cuncolim Union had a couple of scoring opportunities, their forwards failed to capitalize on them. In the 82nd minute, Sao Jose de Areal was awarded a penalty, which Regan Pinto converted confidently, sending the rival goalkeeper the wrong way.
Dhamasker CA coaching camp from April 1
The annual summer cricket coaching camp organised by Vinod Dhamasker Cricket Academy will be conducted from April 1 at Parvatibai Chowgule College cricket nets. Boys and girls in the age group of 7 to 14 may register their names for the camp, which will be held for 21 days from 7 am to 9 am. Inter-village football tournament at Kakoda
Holy Cross Sports Club, Vodlemoll Kakoda, in collaboration with Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem, is set to host their 26th All-Goa inter-village football tournament. The tournament will commence on April 23 at the Vodlemoll Kakoda ground and will culminate with the finals on May 11. The champions of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 1,25,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 80,000 and a trophy. Sub-jr nat c'ship: Boxers Laxmi, Suman in finals
Laxmi Lamani and Suman Patil won their respective semi-final bouts at the 3rd Sub Junior National Boxing Championships in Noida, UP to advance to the finals, on Sunday. Suman Patil from Goa, won against a Delhi boxer in a clear result to reach the finals with a 5:0 decision. In her final bout, she will now face Chandigarh’s Niti. Goa has sent 9 boxers -- 7 girls and 2 boys -- accompanied by SAI coach Arif Uddin and assistant Sameer Kenchikera.
